About us

The Bologna Training Center (BTC) was established in 2012 at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, as a direct and important result of TEMPUS-CORINTHIAM Project which aimed to implement internationalization reforms in the Israeli higher education system. One of the magor realizations of the TEMPUS-CORINTHIAM Project was the indication of a wide gap, in Israeli higher education institutions  understanding of internationalization and the Bologna Process specifically.

The BTC  operates under the auspices of the Centre for the Study of European Politics and Society-National Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, in cooperation with the Israel office of the Konard-Adenauer-Stifftung and serves as a national center exposing the Israeli higher education institutions  to the Bologna Process, it's characteristics, advantages and the challanges it entails. The BTC sees itself as a disseminator of knowledge and information regarding the Bologna Process and aims to trigger an informed discussion concerning the reforms and their implications for the Israeli higher education system.

The BTC activities are aimed at stimulating discourse concerning the strategy of the Israeli higher education vis a vis internationalization and modernization of higher education. BTC activities include:

1. Organization of conferences, information days and workshops on various subjects related to the Bologna Process.

2. Organization of international workshops and seminars in various subjects relating to the internationalization of Higher Education

3. Publication of relevant materials on the implementation of parts of the Bologna Process in Israel.

4. Development of joint projects between Israeli and European higher education institutions

Another aspect of the Bologna Training Center's activity is the cooperation with the Center for Excellence in Teaching at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, in providing workshops to Univerity`s new faculty members.

The BTC also provides assistance to the University departments undergoing the quality evaluation and assessment process of the Israeli Council for Higher Education. The Bologna Training Center is currently coordinating the TEMPUS-ESPRIT Project, as well as participating in TEMPUS-DOIT Project.

In addition, the BTC conducts lectures and workshops, developed by the BTC staff,  to higher education institutions' academic and administrative staff in the fields of: Learning Outcomes and their implementation in evaluation and assessment processes, converting Israeli accreditation to the European credit transfer and accumulation system (ECTS), Diploma Supplement, Internationalization, and more.

The BTC perceives its activities as cooperative with all the Israeli Higher Education institutions as well as the Israel Council for Higher Education.
